Cat Bi Airport (in Hai Phong city) is the largest airport in the North Indochina, which was reestablished by the French nationals, expanded and upgraded in 1952 - 1953 to direct the group at the point of Dien Bien Phu. After the liberation of the North 1955, the airport was renovated, upgraded and officially put into operation the non-civil cave operations since the year 1985.
Cat Bi Airport was formed on the basis of a large military airport, the important French aviation port in Indochina during the war years in Vietnam. At Cat Bi International Airport, there are about 200 planes of all kinds, frequent flights to and from, are extremely strict guards.
Hai Phong Airport or Catbi Airport (HPH), an international airport located in Hai Phong city, now hosts domestic flights from Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc, Pleiku, Nha Trang, Da Lat and Da Nang and also international routes that connects Macau, Seoul and Hai Phong. JetStar Pacific, VietJet Air, Vietnam Airlines and Emirates are some airlines which are exploiting Catbi airport.
